Aliwal Shoal - Umkomaas

ALIWAL SHOAL - kwazulu Natal

Aliwal Shoal is a 40-minute drive south of Durban and lies off the small coastal towns of Umkomaas and Scottburgh. The Aliwal Shoal, adjoining wrecks and surrounding reefs, also happens to be one of the best dive sites in South Africa. The incredible marine biodiversity, offers divers Tiger sharks, Ragged Tooth sharks, Zambezi sharks, Bottlenose dolphin, Manta rays as well as nearly 1200 other species of fish. The spectacular sandstone topography, eroded over time by the ocean currents and wave action, has created the renowned dive sites of Cathedral, Raggies Cave and some of the less well-known sites such as Eelskin and Tiger Ledge.
